Personal Care Essentials: Face Products

Home Health Goji Berry Facial Cream:  This light, fragrance-free moisturizer is absorbed immediately and feels clean—never sticky. One of our staffers says, “It’s great to find a moisturizer that you can use as both a day and night cream.” We also love the fact that the ingredients include hyaluronic acid and organic plant and superfood extracts but no parabens.

Aubrey Revitalizing Therapy Moisturizer: This thick cream comforts dry skin with a true rose scent accompanied by a nostalgic childhood memory of almond-scented lotion. The product comes in attractive packaging and contains a number of organic botanical ingredients including rose hip seed oil, calendula, elderflower, and milk thistle, which has been shown to reduce sun damage.

MyChelle Honeydew Cleanser Unscented: It may be unscented, but it still smells really nice! This non-foaming cleanser doesn’t leave skin feeling dry. It gets high marks for purity on the Environmental Working Groups Skin Deep database—rated a low-risk 1. Cleans with chlorophyll and blue green algae, and the melon delivers vitamin C.

TheraNeem Facial Oil Serum Balancing Therapé: Oils are a big trend in facial care, though it seems a little counterintuitive to put oil on skin already prone to oiliness and blemishes. But neem contains chemicals that kill bacteria, which can cause acne, and the adaptogenic herbs in this formula are intended to control oil production. The bracing scent of this product may not be for everyone, but it helped our staffers wake up!

Mineral Fusion SPF 40 Facial Moisturizer: This is a favorite! Talk about a multitasker: this anti-aging moisturizer also contains a mineral-based 40 SPF sunscreen. It starts off white and zinc-y but turns clear and absorbs quickly. Free of gluten, parabens, phthalates, artificial colors, and synthetic fragrances.

Jeffrey James Botanicals The Eye Creme: A staffer says, “It’s fabulous! I have dry skin and tired eyes from lots of airline travel and this crème seemed to smooth and firm the appearance of my under eyes within a couple of days.” Check out the number of organic botanical ingredients, and the inclusion of exotic (and efficacious) tamanu oil.

Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser: This wonderful scrub is sugar-based and smells deliciously of lemon. The intensity of the scrub and the foaming action is controlled by the amount of water used with it. Rice flour and lemongrass round out the active ingredients; nurturing botanicals in the formula include calendula, lavender, and chamomile.

Eco Lips Dagoba Roseberry Lip Balm: We loved (and used up) the Dagoba chocolate mint lip balm, in part due to the unusual and delicious flavor but also because it was organic and full of moisturizing ingredients like sunflower seed oil, beeswax, and cocoa seed butter. Now this, the chocolate roseberry: It goes on luscious and smooth and offers the scents of chocolate, rose, and raspberry—like a calorie-free organic dessert!
