Fair Trade

Maybe one that’s wholesome, organic, and made with care. Add fairly traded ingredients such as chocolate, sugar, coffee, and spices, and you only make it sweeter.

Put simply, products labeled Fair Trade Certified are just that—fair. Foods bearing this logo are grown and harvested by workers and farmers in developing countries who are compensated with living wages. Employees on fair trade farms work under safe conditions where forced child labor is strictly prohibited. And, as much as possible, middlemen are eliminated from the export/import process so that farmers are best equipped to compete in the global marketplace.

Fair trade workers are empowered to improve their communities. When you buy Fair Trade Certified products, you help farmers lift themselves out of poverty and encourage them to protect the environment. Though not all fair trade goods are grown organically, they are more likely to be.
