Ichigo Sando (Japanese Strawberry Sandwich) with Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Whole Grain Bread
In partnership with Food For Life
- 4 slices of Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Whole Grain Bread, toasted, crusts removed
- 1/2 cup cream cheese (regular or vegan), softened
- 2-3 tsp maple syrup or honey (to taste)
- 6-8 fresh strawberries, hulled
1. In a bowl, mix the cream cheese with maple syrup/honey until smooth and slightly fluffy.
2. Wash and hull the strawberries. If they're large, slice them in half for better layering.
3. Spread a generous layer of the sweetened cream cheese on each slice of bread.
4. Arrange strawberries neatly on two slices, flat side down, so they'll show nicely when sliced. Top with the other bread slices, cream cheese side down.
5. Use a sharp knife to slice each sandwich in half diagonally for the classic look. Wipe the blade between cuts for the cleanest presentation.
